Everyone has heard of drinking whiskey on the rocks. But have you ever thought of having your favorite spirit on the rocks, literally? What if they offered the optimal environment for your bourbon or scotch to release its true potential for flavor? You may be asking yourself, “What are whiskey rocks?” Just as your cocktail glass has the perfect attributes to release the flavor of your spirit, these whiskey ice rocks cool your spirit to the perfect temperature as to not “shock” your drink. Rather, these ice stones gently release those subtle tones, intended by master distillers across the world.
With the above information, one may think all rocks might do the trick of cooling spirits to complete perfection. This, however, is not true. These stones were derived from soapstone. Soapstone, for millennia, has been benefiting human culture with its temperature retention qualities. So it makes sense, when you think of cooling your bourbon, scotch or white wine for a sustained period of time, think whiskey rocks.
Soapstone, in fact, is the only non-porous stone naturally occurring in our environment. This means, soapstone has no need to be manufactured and processed with chemicals for commercial use. Further, SPARQ’s soapstone ice rocks won’t absorb, or disperse any unwanted flavors nor will they harbor any bacteria. As a testament to the natural durability of the stone, the same material that was used to build the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil is the same thing utilized to cool our most precious beverages.
For years, most people have hailed the ice cube for its cooling properties. While ice cubes may be able to cool a drink quickly, they are in fact melting as they cool and robbing your drink of its true potential. For one that likes to sit back, relax and appreciate the flavor of a drink that took years to make, watering it down seems to be hardly an option. The minerals found in water can indeed shut the flavors of the scotch down completely, holding it back and delivering poor results. All the more reason to switch over to soapstone ice rocks and enjoy your bourbon the way it was intended to be enjoyed, simply, chilled to a breezy mid 50’s and un-mixed.

Testimonial – Great Gift, June 5, 2011
One of my co-workers gave me a set of these stones as a birthday gift. At first, I was expecting them to work like ice cubes, but after reading up on more information about them, I understood that they were more for enhancing flavor than they were for cooling. They do work well for that and they are also a great conversation starter when my girlfriend and I are entertaining guests. They are a great gift idea and any bourbon drinker such as myself would be happy to get them.
